Sandvik stainless steel developed for Opinel is renowned for its sharpness and ease of maintenance. This steel is capable of undergoing the heat treatment that gives it its good hardness. It has a carbon content of at least 0.40% which gives a very satisfactory edge without being susceptible to corrosion.
